March is here and that means St. Patrick’s Day is right around the corner! The holiday brings so much excitement for kids as they get decked out in their green attire and celebrate Irish culture. Looking for ways to celebrate this holiday with your kids? We’ve created a guide with the best Saint Patrick’s Day activities to try with your little leprechauns.
St. Patrick’s Day Crafts
Start off your St. Patrick’s Day celebration by creating some Shamrock Necklaces. All you need to get started is green and white construction paper, scissors, ribbon and a hole puncher. First, cut out different sized shamrocks with the green and white construction paper (don’t worry, they don’t have to be perfect) and punch a hole in the top of each one. After each hole is created, take some ribbon or string and loop it through each of the shamrocks, and you have a fun holiday necklace! When your child is all dressed up with their new necklace, move onto making Green Glitter Slime. The slime recipe is so simple and only requires 4 easy ingredients – though we highly recommend adding more for decoration, like food coloring and glitter!
Green Treats
For families who love to bake, you’ll want to whip up these delicious Mint Chocolate Pudding Cookies. Your kids will love combining all the ingredients – along with some green food coloring of course – to make these yummy green chocolate chip cookies perfect for Saint Patrick’s Day. Another fun food favorite is Homemade Shamrock Shakes. These bright green milkshakes combine vanilla ice cream, mint extract and green food coloring to create the perfect holiday treat – and another sweet activity to celebrate the occasion!
Don’t Forget to Celebrate Outside
With the weather hopefully getting warmer in your area, a Scavenger Hunt is the perfect activity for some outdoor fun. Set up clues around your yard and have your kids solve riddles to find the pot of gold! You can also come up with any special clues to make the hunt easier and more personalized to your backyard. Your kids will love finding all of the clues and earning the prize at the end of the rainbow.
