Good Day Dallas – Avoiding the Summer Slide

Children’s Lighthouse of Princeton was featured on Good Day Dallas to share expert tips on avoiding the “summer slide” and keeping young minds engaged while school is out. The segment highlighted our xSTREAM Quest® curriculum, which provides hands-on activities that spark creativity, strengthen problem-solving skills, and make learning fun.

Featured activities included:

  • Ambidextrous Drawing Challenge – Children used two markers, one in each hand, to draw mirrored images at the same time. This activity strengthened hand-eye coordination, ambidextrous skills, and patience.

  • Launch-a-Thon – Using simple materials like plastic spoons, popsicle sticks, and rubber bands, children built pom-pom launchers. By testing different objects (like marshmallows or feathers), they discovered how weight affects distance, introducing key STEM concepts in a playful way.

These interactive challenges not only prevent learning loss but also build confidence and curiosity, helping children stay school-ready all summer long.
