We absolutely loved the Children's Lighthouse in Rockwall. My husband and I had our son enrolled there for about six months. Unfortunately, we had to relocate to Mansfield. But the very first day we went to visit the little school, we immediately felt at home. The teachers and administrative staff were so friendly and helpful, and as soon as we stepped into the classroom, our son scrambled down from my arms as fast as he could to play with the other kids. During our time there, the teachers were very attentive when it came to his health and learning. My husband and I were promptly notified if our son got hurt or was feeling sick. One day, the cameras were down so I called them to ask about it and, of course, they were getting them fixed the same day. But I told one of the women that I had just been missing my son and wanted to peek in at him. So she went into the classroom and took pictures of him having a great time, and sent them to me. It was the nicest surprise! It made my whole day. The day before we moved, the school called us and asked us to bring him by so that they could see him one more time and say goodbye to him. His teachers even left a sweet little drawing and a note on his going away bag. Thank you to his teachers who took such good care of him (K and C especially. I won't put full names since this is public, but you know who you are.) And thank you to everyone there for making ourselves and our son so happy to be there. We will miss you all very much :)

I was the very anxious mom that did not want my toddler in any daycare. However, we knew it was best for her development... that she go to some form of structured environment and narrowed our list down to 2 places. When I brought my husband to tour this one with me, we both knew right away that this is where she would be going. After 5 months, we have never regretted this decision.

We love that the teachers are teachers and not babysitters. The amount of knowledge that my nearly 3 year old spouts out at home constantly impresses all of us. We also love that there are some wonderful activities like the Music Man on Fridays and the Stretch and Grow lady on Wednesdays that she has to look forward to when getting ready for school in the mornings. We also have put her in the extra activity of a weekly dance class with Ms. Tiffany from Dance Techniques. I thought it would just be something she'd enjoy, but she is really learning basic dance techniques and loving it.

There are so many things going on that I have many opportunities to have conversations with my daughter. We pick out items together for Show and Tell and we choose outfits out for Fun Friday. Our lives can get very busy and it's easy to have time pass quickly so I am thankful for having these times to spend with my daughter while not having to tell her to eat her dinner or get ready for bed.

After hunting and researching, we pretty much had it narrowed down to the “cheap choice” or the amazing, knock-it-out-of-the-park, state-of-the-art, clean, bright, friendly facility that is The Children’s Lighthouse. After touring what Rockwall has to offer, The Children’s Lighthouse was a surprisingly easy decision for us, despite being a bit pricier than our other options.

We were impressed from our very first visit by the staff and by the fun, structured environment. The corps of teachers is stable (over two years we have not seen much turnover), professional, and genuinely happy to see our kids every morning. (That seriously that goes a long way when I imagine the alternative of dropping my kids off with teachers who are sloppy, half asleep, and look like they’d rather be at home watching soap operas, which is what I observed on our other facility tours!) The director and admin team knows all of the children and parents by name, as do most of the teachers—even the teachers who have not had our girls in their class!
Also The Children’s Lighthouse takes great pride in its curriculum, and although that was not our highest priority, our girls have blossomed academically beyond our imagination. After about a year at The Children’s Lighthouse, our older child went on to kindergarten last September. At our first teacher conference in October, we learned that she has mastered the entire kindergarten curriculum already, thanks to her year at The Children’s Lighthouse! On top of that, our three year old actually has pretty decent handwriting, believe it or not.

The choice of daycare is one of the most formative decisions you can make in your kids’ lives (if you’re reading daycare reviews, then of course you know that already), and we have not had a moment of regret about choosing The Children’s Lighthouse. You can go cheaper, but as in all things, you get what you pay for. With the quality of care that our children receive every day at The Children’s Lighthouse, we consider it a great value, no matter what the price!

He has had awesome teachers in every room he has been in, and all of the staff is very friendly. It amazes me how much the kids already know at just 3 years old. I can't wait to continue to see much more he learns before he starts school. The facility is always clean and bright. An added bonus is the Watch Me Grow cameras. It was especially helpful when he was a baby and we dropped him off for the first time--that was just added peace of mind. Would highly recommend Children's Lighthouse.

I just wanted to share what has been on my heart about Children's Lighthouse. When I brought Dylan to begin classes with you last February I was nervous. We had made the decision to leave the previous school where he had been going since he was about 4 months old. He had started getting bullied so much in a class of two year olds that he would come home crying to us. Also, every time I would come to the school I was seeing the kids sitting around watching cartoons, but not much else. The final straw for us was being told for the 3rd time while going there that Dylan would be moving up to a classroom of children that were far outside his age range 3's -- Dylan was 1 at this point and was already getting bitten, scratched, etc. on a regular basis. Also, I saw the teacher in that classroom yelling at her children frequently which was unacceptable to me. We knew we had to change.
On the first trip we took to visit the Children's Lighthouse we were impressed, relieved and excited to open a brand new happy and healthy chapter for Dylan.
Now a little more than a year later I can say whole-heartedly that I LOVE Children's Lighthouse. The school is always clean. The staff is not only friendly, but many of them have gone above and beyond to show that they care about us and our little family. The learning curriculum is wonderful! I really feel like all of you are my friends, and wonderful teachers for my child.
Dylan LOVES his school and he is learning SO MUCH! This child never ceases to amaze me with the stuff he comes home saying and doing. The other morning he found a flag in his toy box from last year's 4th of July celebration. He brought it to me and recited the Pledge of Allegiance to me in it's entirety! Now, our family can take a lot of credit for a lot of the things Dylan learns but this is most definitely something we've never taught him. It was a true testament for me of how much he is learning from the school!
We are truly blessed to have found all of you! That includes yourself and Laurie as well.
Thank you for everything you do!

When we moved to Rockwall back in July of last year (2010), we were extremely nervous about starting a new daycare. Parker was in an in home daycare before that we loved and I didn't know how she would adjust to a big daycare enviornment. To add to our anxiety Parker has food allergies, so we were nervous about how a daycare would handle the situation. The staff at Children's Lighthouse has been fantastic! They are patient and careful and communicate with us on a regular basis on what Parker can and cannot eat. Not only is the staff great with her allergies, they are so accommodating and helpful in so many other ways. Parker, as well as mommy and daddy, are very happy with her new daycare. She has learned so much and enjoys coming to "school" each day. It is truly amazing to see how much she is learning and progressing. It is hard as a working mom to be away from our kiddos each day, but it is so nice knowing that she is in great hands with people that truly care for her. We are so lucky to have found Children's Lighthouse in Rockwall. Thank you all for everything you do.
Sincerely,
Jennifer, Chase and Parker Deadman

The new, bright, and beautiful facility opened within the last year or two. The staff is accommodating and kind, and the curriculum works. My just-turned-2-year old daughter knows the alphabet, can count to 10 (sometimes passed that), can pick out most shapes and colors, and I just caught her today saying the days of the week. She is happy when I drop her off and pick her up, which means a lot to me.

The only reason I gave it 4 and not 5 stars is because of the cost. I definitely could find cheaper child care in Rockwall, but the facility and purposeful curriculum is what made me choose Children's Lighthouse. Also, my daughter's particular class has gone through a few teacher changes. (The other classes seem more consistent: The late ones/early twos have just had some bad luck in consistency lately.)

But I am still happy with Children's Lighthouse and look forward to seeing what else my daughter learns.

We did attend Galaxy Ranch but decided it wasn't the right fit for her so we transferred to Children's Lighthouse....what a difference. When you walk through the front door, you are greeted with a hello and a smile. Every staff member that I have met seems happy and very nice. It is a welcoming and happy environment for both parents and kids. My daughter enjoys school so much now that she attends all week instead of just going three days like we initially signed up for. She is writing, knows her colors in English and Spanish, numbers in English and Spanish, can count to 100 by fives and tens, knows her Presidents, States, and an array of animals. They have a program that has introduced her to reading and numerous arts and crafts. She loves her teachers and when you walk into the classroom the kids are happy and very engaged in whatever the teacher is teaching. The classroom has two teachers and the teachers do a great job teaching the kids manners and how to conduct themselves in a classroom setting. It warms my heart for my daughter to wake up in the morning wanting to go to school, and I know that she is getting a great foundation for Kindergarten, not only academically but setting the mood for her to be excited about school and what the future holds. Thanks Children's Lighthouse for helping us set our daughter up for success!!

It was such a hard decision to leave my baby boy at a daycare when he was just 8 weeks old. However, I think we made the correct decision. He is now 9 months old and I really love the daycare and I am pretty sure he does too. The teachers and the administration staff are amazing. Good people to talk with and really helpful on working with my son unstable feeding schedules, since he was having some issues with his milk and is teething. In addition, I really like that at such a short age they do art work as well as other learning activities. They also have the Watch me Grow cameras system, so we are able to watch him through day in our phones. We love you guys!!!

We LOVE CL! The staff is by far the nicest, and sweetest people you will meet. Our daughter Chloe loves it. They have a great curriculum, and they have a set schedule that they go by. I also loved the fact that they do not have televisions in the younger kids classrooms. One of the greatest things that we first noticed about the school is that you can monitor your child all day with the WatchMeGrow app. So, we liked that sense of security, along with having to have a pass code to get into the facility. They are always doing crafty things. Our daughter loves her every teacher she has had as she moved up to the different class rooms. I always recomend CL to anyone who has a child that is needing to be enrolled in daycare.

My daughter Breelyn was at the same school/center from age 7.5 weeks to 4 years old. We kept her there because it was comfortable, affordable and she liked it. At age 4 we decided it was time to move somewhere that was more structured and would better prepare her for Kindergarten. The transition went better than I could have ever hoped or expected, it was harder on me than on her. The staff and teachers were welcoming and made her feel loved from day 1. Within 2 weeks of being in room 8 with Ms. K she could spell her name verbally and written, she was writing her letters (which we knew she could do but hadn’t actually seen for ourselves) she went from counting to 25 and stopping to counting to 100 and knew the President song and state song!!!! All of that is wonderful but what made it even more epic for us was that she was EXCITED about learning and showing us her worksheets. Her previous school would send home at most 10 worksheets a month (that’s a high number) at CLH she is coming home with what seems like 10 sheets a day! I was worried about the very structured environment at first, but it proved to be a perfect fit. I never go into her class or log in and see chaos. Even when they are playing its structured center play vs. running around the room throwing toys, books, screaming and wrestling that we would experience at the old school. It’s taught her how to play and have fun yet still lets her be a little kid that can laugh, be silly and enjoy her friends.
Since April which was when she started; to date, we have seen our daughter blossom and eager to learn more! She’s been able to clearly communicate with us since she was 2 but even her vocabulary has expanded. She knows words I had no idea she knew yet alone how to use them in the correct context. It’s like talking to a little adult sometimes. Ms K informed me today that she’s been watching Breelyn over the course of a week squint at the board when she’s teaching. She said she wanted to watch to see if it happened every time or just here and there (possibly when she’s tired). She asked Breelyn why she’s squinting; she started crying and said, “because I can’t see what you are writing”. As much as this broke my heart it made me so happy and relieved to that know that Ms. K took the time to notice there might be an issue, confirm it and inform me quickly so I can address and resolve it for my little girl. This speaks VOLUME to kind of school CLH is, the care of the teachers/staff and just overall dedication they provide to the children/parents. We love the “good morning” & smiles we get from Ms. Brittany, Ms. Tracy and Ms. Lori every morning and the “have a good evening” smiles we get each night. It makes Breelyn happy at drop off and pick up! She tells me all the time, “Mommy I love my new school”.
CLH is more expensive then our old school but I can promise you it is worth every single extra penny we spend! Breelyn will be 100% prepared for Kindergarten next year and you just can’t put a price tag on that or the sense of security we feel each and every day! I wish we would have had her at CLH all along. Thank you so very much for the excellent care and dedication you show us!!!
Thank you,
Jason & Emily King

I absolutely love this place! My son has been going to school at CL for just over two years now. The director Tracy and the assistant director Lori are like family to us. Both are easy to talk to....in fact, I have asked for advice on subjects of potty training, temper tantrums and schedules and have always found them to be very knowledgeable and helpful!

The curriculum is amazing and a schedule is followed rather than it just being a typical "day care center". It is much more like an elementary school with circle time, learning time, rest time, show and tell and recess. My son has learned so much during his time there including writing his name, days of the week, counting to 100 and learning to be a friend and share. Lunch is provided along with a morning and afternoon snack and I love that they pray before they eat!

The staff is very nice and my son is always greeted by name in the hallway by teachers from other classrooms. Miss Brittany is one of our favorite staff members and we feel so good knowing that she is at the front desk because she always seems to know everything that has happened on any given day and always has an answer if we have a question. My son's teacher Miss K is very encouraging and easy to talk to and always let's me know how my son's day went!

There are many activities offered (some for an additional fee) that the kids can be a part of including sports classes, karate, dance, etc. All kids are enrolled in a Stretch & Grow class and watching the class being taught last week, I am so pleased that my son can be a part of it! He was having an absolute blast!

The classrooms are always kept neat and clean. I also love that they have windows in every classroom so you can watch your child without them being able to see you. There are also cameras in every room so that you can watch your child online while they are at school if you want to.....which I used often when he first started because I missed him so much!

CL also celebrates holidays with different events throughout the year. Last year for Halloween, CL opened up at night for the kids to dress up and go trick or treating at the school. A petting zoo, cotton candy, face painting and more were provided. Classroom parties happen throughout the year for holidays and special events allowing parents to be involved and celebrate too!

I feel very blessed to have my son at a school where he is encouraged, taught and loved like a member of the CL family. I never have to worry about my son when he is there because I know that he is taken care of exactly the way I would at home!
Strong educational program, my child has been learning English, Spanish and some ASL. She is able to recognize letters, and is confident in writing her name and being able to spell out names of others
