While attending college at Alabama A&M as an aspiring speech pathologist, I visited different schools in my area. That is when I discovered the joy of learning in a hands-on environment like the one we offer at Children's Lighthouse. I was forever inspired and vowed that my children would get the very best education. I took that idea a step further and became a teacher myself. Through years of experience, guiding others for me is what fuels the future and keeps the mission alive. Supporting others is a way of refueling myself.
One of my favorite things in our center is the diversity among our families. The children and staff are able to learn about different cultures and experiences.

I graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2008 with my Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education and knew that my passion was the Early Childhood field. Seeing children learn about the world around them for the first time, I cannot help to share in their amazement. Watching them grow, not only academically, but also in their social-emotional skills leads me to know that we are laying the foundation for them to not only thrive in school but also to be good human beings in the future.
When I am not spending time with our future engineers, teachers, scientists, and civil workers, I am with my wonderful husband, Brian, and our two fur-babies, ButterBean and Cornbread. We enjoy traveling trying to meet our goal of visiting all 50 states by the time we turn 50, hiking, and finding new coffee shops to try out.

Hello! My name is Annette Patrick. It is with great pleasure to introduce myself as the Curriculum Coordinator for Children’s Lighthouse in Hoover, Alabama.
Before coming to Children’s Lighthouse, I was an elementary school teacher and retired from the Tuscaloosa County School System. My husband and I moved to Birmingham after I retired in 2020 to be closer to our children and grandchildren.
My passion for curriculum and teaching led me to Children’s Lighthouse where I can fulfill that purpose of working with children and staff. I love the Children’s Lighthouse Franchise’s Brand Promise and their Standards to make their Early Learning Schools the top in the Nation. I love being part of a school where I have the support of the owner, directors, staff and parents that support curriculum. I believe if we invest in children our legacies will live on through their bright futures.
